Born in 1962 in Ljubljana, Stanislav has been living in Škofja Loka from birth. After finishing Secondary Veterinary School, he enrolled at the Veterinary Faculty in Ljubljana, where he graduated in 1989. As a young researcher, he completed his postgraduate studies at the Clinic for Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at the Veterinary Faculty in Ljubljana, where he was regular employee for 4 years. In 1994, he successfully defended his master’s thesis entitled Haemodynamic, Hormonal and Biochemical Changes during Haemorrhagic Shock in Dogs under General Anaesthesia.
Between 1991 and 1996, he headed the Animal Small Animal Health Clinic in Škofja Loka, which was owned by the Animal Breeding Veterinary Institute of Gorenjska.
In 1996, he opened a private clinic in Škofja Loka, where he and his team worked for 15 years. In 2011, he opened a new clinic for small animals at the current location. He is predominantly involved in the surgery of soft and hard tissues, veterinary orthopaedics and veterinary dentistry.
He was among the first in Slovenia to earn the title of a dog and cat medical specialist. He supplemented his knowledge of orthopaedics within the context of his postgraduate education at the Clinic for Small Animal Surgery and Medicine at the Veterinary Faculty in Ljubljana under Prof. Dr. Bojan Zorko. He undergoes regular training at domestic and foreign congresses, courses and workshops within the context of the Slovenian Small Animal Veterinary Association (SSAVA), Veterinary Chamber of Slovenia (VCS), Federation of European Companion Animal Veterinary Associations (FECAVA), World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA), British Small Animal Veterinary Association (BSAVA), Southern European Veterinary Conference (SEVC) and Veterinary Surgical Working Group for Osteosynthesis Questions in Veterinary Medicine (AOVET). What is more, he actively collaborates with the Veterinary Chamber of the Republic of Slovenia.
